The GDC recommends (it does not require) CPD in certain topics. For three of them it suggests minimum hours:

|---|---|
| Medical emergencies | at least 10 hours per cycle, and at least 2 hours every year |
| Disinfection and decontamination | 5 hours per cycle |
| Radiography and radiation protection | 5 hours per cycle, if you take radiographs (dental technicians: materials and equipment instead) |
It also recommends CPD in:
- legal and ethical issues
- complaints handling
- oral cancer: early detection
- safeguarding children and young people
- safeguarding vulnerable adults
